Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(f)(1)(ii): Testing or positioning of machines, equipment or components thereof. In situations in which lockout or tagout devices must be temporarily removed from the energy isolating device and the machine or equipment energized to test or position the machine, equipment or component thereof, the following sequence of actions shall be followed: Remove employees from the machine or equipment area in accordance with paragraph (e)(2) of this section; On or about March 18, 2023, at a workplace located at 300 Moore Road, Plover, WI in the Slicing Department; an employee engaged in a servicing and/or maintenance tasks, including but not limited to inspecting and observing the belt and pulley alignment on the Gering & Son Slicer, was not removed from the equipment nor were alternative protections equivalent to lockout provided to prevent employee exposure to the pinch point hazard.
