29 CFR 1910.106(e)(2)(iii): "Separation and protection." Areas in which flammable liquids are transferred from one tank or container to another container shall be separated from other operations in the building by adequate distance or by construction having adequate fire resistance. Drainage or other means shall be provided to control spills. Adequate natural or mechanical ventilation shall be provided. a) Paint Shop, prep area: On or about December 14, 2022, employees transferred waste Value Works general purpose thinner, a Category 2 flammable liquid, between five-gallon metal cans to consolidate the waste, exposing them to a fire hazard. This was done is within the same room as the mixing area, distillation unit, spray area and spray booth.
