Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposing employees to caught-in hazards: (a) On or about 12/02/2022 - Outside Bay Area, employees were exposed to caught-in hazards when installing a Top Series 270(B) breaker to a John Deere 210G Hydraulic Excavator that had a thumb mounted on it. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to: 1. Develop written step-by-step procedures for installing a hydraulic breaker on an excavator without employees physically placing their body in a pinch point to lock the hydraulic coupler to the attachment. 2. Develop and implement a training program that addresses the proper procedures for installing a hydraulic breaker to an excavator.
