29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): The employer did not provide one or more methods of machine guarding to protect the operator of a meat grinder and other employees from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about September 30, 2022, at 12935 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613, in the kitchen area, the employer exposed employees to amputation hazards, in that, machine guarding was not provided while employees were operating a Univex Model#MG22 Countertop meat grinder. The equipment was fitted with an aftermarket grinding plate with larger grinding holes allowing access to the blades.
