Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of falsework and bridge construction failure: I-285 and I-85 interchange (Dekalb County, Georgia) - Bridge #7, section #2 - Station 78 & 65. The falsework bent post was offset from the nearest pile beneath the mud sill creating eccentric loading causing the structure to be unstable and overloading the mud sill capacity. On or about the date 7/23/84. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the proper alignment of the falsework bent posts to the pilings.
