29 CFR 1926.651(k)(1):Daily inspections of excavations, the adjacent areas, and protective systems were not made by a competent person for evidence of a situation that could have resulted in possible cave-ins, indications of failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, or other hazardous conditions: a) Work site was located at The College of New Jersey; 2000 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ 08628; Brower Student Center and The School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Contracts 1 / 1A Workers were exposed to cave in hazards as the trench they were working in to replace broken pipes was not maintained with proper benching, sloping or shoring and did not have spoils set back properly to protect workers in the event of a collapse.
