OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by below the hook lifting devices. a) Value Stream 2 Furnace area, Plant #2 - On or about October 13, 2022, employees were exposed to struck by injuries from below the hook lifting devices (#40 and #76) that have visible cracks and deformities. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means of abatement include, but are not limited to following ANSI B30.20: 1. 1.2.1 Rated load shall be legibly marked on lifting device. 2. 1.3.1(b)(1) perform operator visual inspection. 3. 1.3.3(a) inspect for deformation, cracks and excessive wear. 4. Table 1.3.3-1 for removal from service guidance. 5. 1.3.7 removal from service criteria.
