A device such as a panic bar that locks only from the outside is permitted on exit discharge doors. a) The employer fails to ensure effective protection against fire hazards as required by the standard, as demonstrated on or about September 01, 2022, at 3649 Victory Drive, Columbus, GA, 31903, when the emergency exit door was kept locked preventing employees from safely exiting the stockroom. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that emergency exits are not locked with keys, tools or require special knowledge to unlock in the event of an emergency.
