29 CFR 1926.651(h)(1):Employees were working in excavations in which there was accumulated water, or excavations in which water was accumulating, and adequate precautions had not been taken to protect employees against the hazards posed by water accumulation: At the Trenching and Excavation site located in the 300 block of E. Ford St, in Valley Center, Sedgwick County, KS, employee(s) engaged in trenching and excavation activities were exposed to cave in hazards in that the competent person allowed employee(s) to enter the trench where standing water was present, without the proper slope configurations and/or the proper benching systems, while a cross trench was dug allowing water to flow through the active trench employee(s) were standing in.
