OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from hazards associated with the mixing of incompatible chemicals stored together; 10 Industrial Way, Unit 7. On or about 6/9/22, the employer did not ensure that chemicals such as, but not limited to the following were separated from each other while in storage. Both containers were kept in the same cabinet, and not separated as indicated in the National Fire Protection Association Code. a) Isopropyl alcohol and a chlorine containing compound were found stored together in a flammable materials cabinet, which could potentially release chlorine or chlorine compounds upon mixing. b) Biofoamer (basic solution: pH 8-11) and Virkon (acidic powder: pH 2.2-2.7) were found stored together in a corrosive storage cabinet, which could potentially result in an exothermic reaction upon mixing.
