Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from struck-by hazards: (a) On or about January 20, 2022, at or near 200 Knutson Street, Mapleton, North Dakota, for an employee who was struck-by a falling metal part weighing several hundred pounds while hanging and raising the part from an underhung mono-rail trolley system. Among other acceptable means, some feasible and acceptable methods of abatement include but is not limited to: Following all requirements established in ASME B30.17 to include Chapter 17-3, Operator Training and Operation. Developing specific operating procedures in the safe operation of the under-hung mono-rail trolley mechanism. Install a locking mechanism which would not allow the mono-rail system to raise while the safety lock is disengaged.
