29 CFR 1910.217(c)(2)(i)(a): Point of operation guard(s) on mechanical power press(es) do not prevent entry of hands or fingers into the point of operation by reaching through, over, under or around the guard(s): a) Stud Rail Department- On January 5, 2022, the employer did not ensure that all point of operation guards on machinery, such as the Federal Mechanical Power Press, Serial Number 60-529, Wire Cutter Machine 17, were adequately designed and installed to prevent employees from reaching under or around the guards. On or about December 28, 2021, an employee sustained a crushing injury to the left index, middle, and ring fingers while reaching under the guard to clear material from the die. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
