Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1) Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: struck by hazards caused by the movement of the well servicing rig when lifting assembly components. At the jobsite located at 831 West Fairview Avenue, Carthage, Missouri 64836, employees were exposed to amputation hazards related to conducting coil change removal operations with the walnut multi-press 90. The Walnut multi-press 90 was not adequately guarded or covered to protect employees against nip points from the material. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to abate this hazard include: Not back feeding excess material from the machine in order to take up coil Adequate training on the process and knowledge of the hazards associated with back feeding. Reevaluation of hand tools provided to employees for use on this machine.
