Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees involved in the cutting of the SMC material with utility knives, operating light and heavy presses, and finishing light and heavy automotive parts using hand-held routers, orbital sanders and hand sanding with various coarse sandpaper are subjected to repetitive/ergonomic trauma due to the required use, rate of use, and/or unrelieved use of hands, arms, wrists and shoulder causing, aggravating or precipitating carpal tunnel syndome, tendonitis and ulnar nerve damage and an adequate program does not appear to be in place to prevenet the illnesses. Suggested abatement may include but not be limited to: a) Engineering controls. b) Administrative controls. c) A job analysis program. Step 1 A written detailed plan of abatement shall be submitted to the Area Director. Step 2 Progress reports shall be submitted to the Area Directory every 90 days. Step 3 Final abatement completed.
