29 CFR 1910.179(n)(1): Employer allowed a crane to be loaded beyond its rated load capacity. a) On October 25, 2021, and at times prior, at the Base Build/Base Flip Fan Install station, the employer allowed employees to use the Coffing underhung crane that was rated for two tons to transport a pre-assembled fixture of four fan units that weighed a total of approximately 4,480 pounds. a) On October 25, 2021, and at times prior, at the Base Build/Base Flip Fan Install station, the employer allowed employees to use the Coffing underhung crane that was rated for 2 tons to transport a pre-assembled fixture of four fan units that weighed a total of approximately 4,480 pounds. The weight of the fixture assembly was beyond the rated capacity of the crane. b) On October 25, 2021, and at times prior, at the Base Build/Base Flip Fan Install station, the employer allowed employees to install and use hoist rings that were rated for 1000 pounds each as an attachment point for chain slings. In order, to transport a pre-assembled fixture of four fan units that weighed a total of approximately 4,480 pounds. The weight of the fixture assembly was beyond the rated capacity of the hoist rings. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date and method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. Abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement or other written records.
