OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards that would necessitate the need for trained first aid providers: The employer is failing to provide employees with adequate emergency medical response associated with remote work locations. This was most recently documented on or about September 23, 2021, at a workplace located at 2948 County Road 2425, Higbee, Missouri. The employer failed to have a person adequately trained to render emergency medical response within 3-4 minutes after identifying the injured victim. METHODS OF FEASIBLE ABATEMENT INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: i. Develop and implement written procedures on responding to an urgent/severe employee injury ii. Train the employees and staff on the procedures for responding to an urgent/severe employee injury. iii. Identify personnel to serve as first responders and ensure those personnel are trained in first-aid, CPR and how to use a defibrillator as well as any other critical first responder training specific to your industry. iv. Provide first responders with the equipment and materials to provide emergency medical treatment required until emergency rescue arrives. v. Ensure first responders are on site whenever employees are working.
