Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): The employer did not establish a program consisting of an energy control procedure, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performed any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative: (a) On or about September 07, 2021, the employer had not developed and provided to employees who operate, work around, and /or conduct service of the Oxygen tank fill station a written hazardous energy control program and machine specific isolation procedures to insure the proper isolation of stored energy, and /or to prevent the unexpected energizing and startup of the equipment. Further, the employer did not supply the training needed to recognize the hazards associated with the equipment, and its isolation from the appropriate energy sources, or the responsibilities of authorized or affected employees to insure the proper isolation of stored energy and the recognition of the related energy hazards.
