Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH Act of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to caught-in and fall hazards: (a) Mill 6, Flooring Rip Line - Any employee who operated the Precision Parts Connection LLC inverted swing cut-off (jump) saw, known as Cutter #2, had to walk across the 6-foot cut back belt conveyor to get into or out of the work station at the saw. While walking on the conveyor and while at the work station at Cutter #2, the employee had no start/stop control, including no emergency stop control, over the conveyor and had to rely on another employee to start and stop the conveyor, exposing the Cutter #2 employee to caught-in and fall hazards from movement of the belt conveyor, on or about August 27, 2021. (b) Mill 6, Rip Line - Employees used two Precision Parts Connection LLC inverted swing cut-off (jump) saws, known as Cutter #1 and Cutter #2, to cross cut out bad sections of wood. These saws did not have complete point of operation guarding in that the clamp/guard assembly on each saw did not prevent entry of fingers or hands into the path of the saw blade from the sides and front during operation, exposing employees to the hazard of contact with a rotating saw blade, on or about August 27, 2021. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
