OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to Chemical Burns. On or about July 29, 2021, at Chemtrade Refinery Services Beaumont facility, employees repairing a leak on a spent sulfuric acid (approximately 90% concentration) piping system were sprayed from a failed pipe nipple, when the employer failed to ensure only welded piping connections were used, in accordance with the employer's adopted design codes and standards for construction of spent sulfuric acid service piping systems.
