29 CFR 1926.451(e)(8): Direct access to or from another surface was used when the scaffold was more than 14 inches (36 cm) horizontally and/or 24 inches (61 cm) vertically from the other surface: The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards associated with access and egress from the Skyjack to another work surface. This was most recently documented on or about June 29, 2021 at jobsite located at 2590 CR L, Ashland Kansas, where the employer has an employee using the Skyjack, Model #SJIII 3226 aerial platform to perform construction activities on a new flake room. Employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 21 feet from the Skyjack aerial lift to the concrete drive below in that employees were climbing the guardrail of the Skyjack to gain access to the platform of the new flake room.
