29 CFR 1910.147(c)(6)(i): The employer shall conduct a periodic inspection of the energy control procedure at least annually to ensure that the procedure and the requirements of this standard are being followed. Conveyors: on or about May 20, 2021, inspections of the control of hazardous energy (lockout) procedure and reviews with authorized employees were not conducted at least annually to identify and correct any deviations or inadequacies. Personnel assigned to perform conveyor maintenance and servicing tasks were exposed to moving belts and pulley wheels pinch points when guards were removed for troubleshooting bearing noises and to check tracking of timing belts without alternative measures providing effective protection. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
