Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: At 1703 W Main St, Washington, MO 63090 - on or about April 8, 2021, the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm, including severe burns, to employees in that employees were exposed to dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards from titanium swarf while working in the mill room. Among other methods, feasible methods to correct the hazard are: 1. Train employees and managers in the proper milling procedure, with special attention paid to the importance of ensuring an adequate water level above the material. 2. Create a checklist for housekeeping to ensure proper housekeeping is maintained in the mill room to ensure swarf does not build up on any surface or under the mill lid. 3. Install a mill lid that does not interfere with the operation of the shaft. DISCLAIMER: a. The employer is not limited to abatement method(s) suggested by OSHA. b.
