29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Dick's Sporting Good, Inc. at 31 W Flatiron Crossing Drive in Broomfield, CO: On or before March 30, 2021, the employer did not ensure that one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect the trash compactor operators from hazards created by the point of operation. The interlocked guards had been bypassed, allowing employees to operate the trash compactor with the door open. This condition exposed employees to crushing hazards.
