29 CFR 1910.101(b): The in-plant handling, storage, and utilization of all compressed gases in cylinders, portable tanks, rail tankcars, or motor vehicle cargo tanks were not in accordance with Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1-1965, which is incorporated by reference as specified in CFR 1910.6: a) On or about 11/09/2020, employees working in the Mechanical/ Electrical area of the facility were not protected from potential struck-by and/or fire hazards, in that a cylinder containing (compressed) oxygen was not properly stored. Employees who worked in the proximity to unchained oxygen cylinder were not protected should the cylinder rupture or fall and become a projectile. b) On or about 11/09/2020, employees working in the back of warehouse area also know as; the Argon Tank Area were potentially exposed to struck-by and/or fire hazards, in that the employer failed to ensure that compressed gases, such as but not limited to: propane, oxygen, and argon were properly stored. Employees who worked in the proximity to unchained gas cylinders were not protected should the cylinders rupture, be hit by a powered industrial vehicle, or fall and become a projectile. c) On or about 11/09/2020, employees working in the back of warehouse area, near loading ramp were exposed to struck-by and/or fire hazards in that compressed gases, such argon and non-medical grade oxygen were not properly stored. Employees who worked in the proximity to unchained gas cylinders were not protected should the cylinders rupture or fall and become a projectile. d) On or about 11/09/2020, employees Woodworking Area - to struck-by and/or fire hazards in that the employer failed to ensure that compressed gases, such as but not limited to, propane, were properly stored. Employees who worked in the proximity to an unchained cylinder of propane were not protected should the cylinder rupture, be hit by a powered industrial vehicle, or fall and become a projectile.
