Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.138(a): General requirements. Employers shall select and require employees to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands are exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasions; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. (a) The employer did not select and require adequate hand protection in that on or about October 27, 2020 an employee was performing slag grinding on an aluminum part when the MCR 9403 large size glove was pulled into the grinding machine belt that was rotating at 2200 to 2400 rpm, which resulted in an amputation to the tip of their right index finger.
