29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii):The point of operation of machines whose operation exposes an employee to injury, shall be guarded. The guarding device shall be in conformity with any appropriate standards therefor, or, in the absence of applicable specific standards, shall be so designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of his body in the danger zone during the operating cycle. a. On or about September 3, 2020, in the ready to eat side of the plant, slicer 1 did not have guards at the point of operation to prevent employees from reaching into the rotating blade. b. On or about September 3, 2020, on the raw foods side of the plant, the Weiler 1109 Pre-Grinder (first grinder) did not have guards in place to prevent employees from reaching into the point of operation. c. On or about September 3, 2020, on the raw foods side of the plant, the mixer did not have guards in place to prevent employees from reaching into the point of operation.
