29 CFR 1910.134(d)(3)(i)(B)(2): Employer approved maximum use concentration (MUC) respirators to conditions that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH); instead, they must use respirators listed for IDLH conditions in paragraph (d)(2) of this standard. Location: Ammonia Refrigeration machine room. Employees entering into the machine room were exposed to toxic and inhalation hazards, in that, the employer was approving employees to use air purifying respirators in potential IDLH atmospheres. The employer designated air purifying respirators on the respirator use - medical recommendation for IDLH atmospheres.
