29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or about July 13, 2020, located at 1550 Main Street, West Jefferson, Ohio: the employer had not guarded the pinch point for the CALJAN Truck Loading Conveyor, CBP4 25/54-31, Serial No. 206595, when an employee had his gloved hand caught-in between the pinch point of the conveyor belt and pop-out roller. The injury had resulted in the amputation of the employee's 2nd and 3rd finger tips from the caught-in incident. Within the past five years, the employer had been cited for the same hazard in a different inspection. Amazon.Com Inc, was previously cited for a violation for this Occupational Safety and Health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1152515, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as final order December 12, 2016, with respect to a workplace located at Receiving Line G and Drop Box Line, 3501, 120th Ave, Kenosha, Wisconsin 53140.
