29 CFR 1926.652(e)(2)(i): Excavation of material to a level no greater than 2 feet (.61m) below the bottom of the members of a support system was permitted where the system was not designed to resist the forces calculated for the full depth of the trench: On or about July 1, 2020, at an excavation site located a I-35 Interstate Drive and Rock Creek Road in Norman, Ok, an employee was allowed to work in a trench with the bottom of the trench box elevated more that two feet above the trench floor, exposing employees to crushed-by and struck-by hazards.
