Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: On or about June 23, 2020, at 23655 SW 202nd Avenue, Homestead, Florida, employees were exposed to struck-by and caught in-between hazards while starting the 1993 Isuzu by operating the auxiliary starter switch from the exterior of vehicle. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazardous condition is to: 1. Prohibit the use of auxiliary starter switches of vehicles when the cabin ignition switch is inoperable, and 2. Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures for use of the auxiliary starter switch that meet the requirements of the vehicle manufacturer, and 3. Formally train all workers on safe use of the auxiliary starter switch.
