Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1051(b): Employers shall provide and install all stairway and ladder fall protection systems required by this subpart and shall comply with all other pertinent requirements of this subpart before employees begin the work that necessitates the installation and use of stairways, ladders, and their respective fall protection systems. On or about April 21, 2020 the Employer did not monitor or inspect the set-up and usage of the non-self-supporting sectional fiberglass Werner Model D6232-2 extension ladder used by employees for climbing or descending to a low-sloped roof to perform roofing associated roofing activities to ensure compliance with all pertinent requirements of Subpart X before employees begin the work that necessitated the installation and use of ladders to ensure the ladder was setup for regulation compliant usage with ladders safety shoes slip resistant pads or similar devices, the ladder was set up on stable and level surfaces unless secured to prevent accidental displacement, the ladder was not being used on slippery surfaces unless secured or provided with slip-resistant feet to prevent accidental displacement and that slip-resistant feet shall not be used as a substitute for care in lashing or holding a ladder that is used upon slippery surfaces including, but not limited flat metal exposing the employees climbing or descending to fall potentials in excess of 10 feet.
