Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.95(c)(1): The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program as described in 29 CFR 1910.9(c) through (o) whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 85 decibels measured on the A scale, or equivalently a dose of fifty percent: a. Dry Cast Department: A dry cast machine operator was exposed to continuous noise at 72.3% of the daily noise exposure (8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 90 dBA) or an equivalent sound level of approximately 87.6 dBA during the 454 minute sampling period on February 25, 2020; exposure calculations included a zero increment for the 26 minutes not sampled. b. Dry Cast Department: A dry cast laborer was exposed to continuous noise at 70.3% of the daily noise exposure (8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 90 dBA) or an equivalent sound level of approximately 87.4 dBA during the 465 minute sampling period on February 25, 2020; exposure calculations included a zero increment for the 15 minutes not sampled.
