Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from crushing hazards: a) On or about January 30, 2020 and at times prior, an employee was exposed to crushing hazards from an in-ground lift that was missing a regulator gauge cover. The lifts were not properly inspected, taken out of service for repair, and maintained prior to the employees' use. Abatement Note: One feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazardous condition would be to follow the requirements in accordance to the instructions required in the ANSI/ALI ALOIM: 2008 Safety requirements for operation, inspection, and maintenance standards.
