Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s): Secondary Operations, Small Air Press. On or about December 10, 2019, employees who performed "break checks" on small copper components were exposed to amputation and laceration hazards from the downward stroke of the ram while placing and removing parts during the operating cycle. The two-hand controls on the press did not function properly to prevent the operators' hands and fingers from entering the point of operation while the ram was descending. There is no abatement documentation or certification required for this item.
