29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit route(s) are not kept free and unobstructed: Stock Room, Back of Store. On or about November 25, 2019, the exit route leading to the exit door on the South side of the building was not free and unobstructed. The width of the exit access was reduced to less than 28" in several places due to obstruction by a broken roller conveyor (approximately 19.5' long and 23" wide), as well as the placement of U-boats filled with merchandise and merchandise stacked on the floor directly across from the roller conveyor. Employees are exposed to death or severe burns and smoke inhalation from obstructed or delayed egress in the event of a fire. There is no abatement documentation or certification required for this item. The Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1309164, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on November 7, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 1605 Morrissey Drive, STE 106, Bloomington, IL 61704.
