Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. Line 4: On or about October 25, 2019 an employee(s) were exposed to caught-in hazards on the Jones S-4693 cartoner's pouch conditioning station where the conditioning rubber roller and the moving conveyor created pinch points that were not effectively guarded. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d). Exel Inc., dba Power Packaging was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 990128 citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on September 2, 2015 with respect to a workplace located at 2089 Pillsbury Drive Geneva, IL 60134.
