Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i): The employer did not ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that was 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level was protected from falling by one or more of the following: Guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: The employer is failing to ensure employees are protected from fall hazards associated with placing vehicle parts into an elevated storage space. This was most recently evident during the inspection conducted on July 30, 2019 at a worksite located at 8901 Irvington Rd, Omaha, NE 68122. Employees routinely access an outdoor 2-story vehicle parts storage rack system to store or retrieve various parts. There is one storage space on the backside of the system and on the 2nd level that does not have a guardrail or any other form of fall protection. Distance from the storage space to the ground is approximately 17 feet.
