29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which is 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level shall be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On June 17, 2019 located between Column lines G3/F3 and G4/F4 an employee was hand or hand tool cleaning a 10 foot 6 inch high, 26 foot long by 52 inch wide elevated platforms grating deck/floor intersecting weld sections prior to painting. During the hand or hand tool cleaning associated activity the employee who was not protected by a personal fall arrest / personal fall restraint system or other conventional fall protection system was working from the elevated platforms grating deck/floor adjacent to areas of platforms unprotected sides or edges which were not protected by standards guard rails along one of the 52 inch wide platform ends and along an approximate 71 inch platform side section exposing the employee to a 10 foot 6 inch fall hazard.
