New Publix Shopping Center, 5310 Matt Highway (369), Cumming, GA 30040 (Jobsite) - The employees working inside the excavation were exposed to a struck-by hazard while working near or under an irregularly shaped precast concrete head wall that could become unstable when lifted and set in place, on or about June 11, 2019. Among other methods, acceptable abatement could include ensuring that riggers assigned to a load-handling activity must determine the weight of the load and its approximate center of gravity before rigging, select the proper rigging equipment and ensure the rigging configuration is sufficient for the load being lifted. Additionally, employees must be trained to recognized lifting and suspended load hazards and prohibited from standing in line with or next to the leg(s) of a sling that is under tension.
