Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) RECUT DEPARTMENT - Employees operated the Eppler TC100 Re-cutter machines, and the employees were exposed to the pinch point where the scraper contacts the mandrel to strip the cut pieces of tube from the mandrel. Employees operating this machine removed and loaded cardboard tubes to and from the mandrels, and also cleared pieces of cardboard tube from the scraper area where the employee's fingers were routinely approximately three to eight inches from the hazard area, and there was no guarding to prevent contact between the scraper and the mandrel, on or about June 5, 2019. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
