OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that an employee left hand was exposed to a caught-between hazard from exceeding a 1/8-inch clearance between the table, disc surface and abrasive pad of a Max Universal 24-inch disc grinder. According to American National Standard B11.9-2010, section 8.3.2.2 a 1/8-inch clearance was required between the abrasive product and the table. a) NNS, Building #5: On or about 06/03/2019, a Max Universal 24-inch disc grinder used in grinding metal plates, the distance between the table, disc surface and abrasive pad was not at a maximum 1/8-inch, as a result an employee's left middle finger was partially amputated. Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after abatement date.
