Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, on or about the dates and times listed below, employees performing commercial landscaping duties are exposed to hazardous heat index conditions. On or about May 22, 2019, employees were exposed to conditions of high ambient heat from being outside performing commercial landscaping services. At jobsite located at 5401 Kirkman Road Orlando, FL, the heat index ranged from 81.1°F to 98.4°F. At 1:00 p.m. WBGT =27.833 ºC (82.1 ºF) and Metabolic Rate = 300- 400 W for landscape workers which exceeds the ACGIHs Screening Criteria for Action Limit for Heat Stress. Such exposures may lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramp, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
