Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.36(g)(4): Objects that projected into the exit route reduced the width of the exit route to less than the minimum width requirements for exit routes: (a) On or about May 6, 2019 the exit route in the warehouse on the North side of the train cars had sheet metal rolls placed so that it was approximately sixteen (16) inches wide and not the required twenty-eight (28) inches thereby exposing employees to a caught-by hazard in the event of an emergency. (b) On or about May 6, 2019 the exit route in the warehouse on the North side of the train cars had sheet metal rolls placed so that it was approximately twenty (20) inches wide. A steel chock at the base of the sheet metal roll projected an additional approximately 7 inches into the route making the actual width of this route approximately thirteen (13) inches and not the required twenty-eight (28) inches thereby exposing employees to a tripping hazard in the event of an emergency.
