29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit route(s) were not kept free and unobstructed: a) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 24 was blocked with boxes in the aisle and at the entrance to this aisle narrowing the width of the exit route from this aisle to 18.5 inches. b) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 13 was blocked with boxes narrowing the exit width of this exit route to 10 inches. c) On or about 11/19/18 in the Fixture Room of the warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from this area was blocked and the computer and printer area was blocked with shelving, a cart of clothing, boxes on the floor, carts with boxes, and racking narrowing from some areas to as narrow as 11inches. d) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 12 was blocked with stacked boxes in the aisle and at the entrance to this aisle narrowing the width of this exit route to 12 inches. e) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 15 was blocked with boxes, diaper boxes and boxes on the floor narrowing the exit width of this exit route to 13 inches. f) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 23 was blocked with boxes, empty boxes stacked inside of boxes and a pallet of boxes at the entrance to this aisle narrowing the exit width of this exit route to 16 inches. g) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 9 was blocked with stacked boxes in the aisle and at the end of the aisle narrowing the width of this exit route to 19 inches. h) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 10 was blocked with stacked boxes in the aisle narrowing the width of this exit route to less than 22.5 inches. i) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of the warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 8 was blocked with carts of personal care items narrowing the exit route. j) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of the warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from Aisle 17 was blocked with boxes at the entrance of the aisle narrowing the exit route from this aisle. k) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty side of the warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the entrance to Aisle 27 was completely blocked with boxes at the entrance and there was a cart in the aisle narrowing the exit route from this aisle. l) On or about 11/19/18 in the Light Duty Side of the warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns and or broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the fire door (exit) near Aisle 19 was blocked with boxes, carts and other product. m) On or about 11/19/18 in the Steel side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit routes from the Aisle 1 was blocked with stacked boxes, a cart and the exit from this aisle blocked with a box placed at the entrance. n) On or about 11/19/18 in the Steel side of warehouse; employees were exposed to smoke inhalation, thermal burns, and broken bones from being trapped during an emergency when the exit route from aisle where the televisions and other heavy products were stored was totally blocked with stacked boxes in the aisle and at the entrance to this aisle. Target Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 992496, citation number 2, item number 1 issued on 9/30/14 and was affirmed as a final order on 10/22/14, with respect to a workplace located at 2703 Route 541 in Burlington, NJ 08016. Target Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1028175, citation number 2, item number 1 issued on 6/16/15 and was affirmed as a final order on 7/22/15, with respect to a workplace located at 30 Kingsland Road in Kingsland, NJ 07014. Target Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1089148, citation number 2, item number 1 issued on 9/30/14 and was affirmed as a final order on 02/23/16, with respect to a workplace located at, 1149 Sunrise Highway , Copiague, NY 11726. Note: In addition to abatement certification the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
