29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. Northeast, grinding department, Twin Grip #1 (TG-1) centerless grinder's exit table: on or about November 1, 2018, employees assigned to run regular production on subject equipment and put collars on bars had their hands and fingers exposed to moving transfer arms struck-by and pinch points hazards, and rotating rollers' ingoing nip-points likely to result in serious injury. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
