Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new physical or health hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and material safety data sheets. On October 18,2018 and prior to, the employer did not provide effective training on the hazardous flammable chemicals such as but not limited to; Tnemec Protective Coating N140, V14A part A and part B in that located at the company on site paint storage trailer employee(s) who had not received effective information and training on the flammability associated hazards of the chemicals were utilizing a 110v electric drill with mixer attachment for mixing the flammable paint at that location and were working within the trailer where there was a 110v space heater observed in operation heating at least 12 filled 5 gallon metal containers of flammable Tnemec Protective Coating N140, V14A part A and part B. The 12 filled, 5 gallon containers additionally had a combustible partial paper enclosure around the containers to filter the heat to the containers and the operational space heater is within two feet of the containers.
