29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(iii): Special handtools for placing and removing material(s) was not provided to permit easy handling of material without the operator placing a hand in the danger zone: (a) Sausage Room - On or about September 11, 2018, the employer did not provide a hand tool such as an end cut pusher for employees to use, when operating the Biro meat cutting band saw, to permit easy handling of material without the operator placing their hand in the danger zone. An employee suffered a finger amputation when operating the meat cutting band saw without any handtools. In accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete and must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase, or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
