Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(2)(ii): If an energy isolating device is capable of being locked out, the employer's energy control program under paragraph (c)(1) of this section shall utilize lockout, unless the employer can demonstrate that the utilization of a tagout system will provide full employee protection as set forth in paragraph (c)(3) of this section. On or about August 1, 2018, the employer failed to ensure that an employee who was servicing Line #11 for a faulty electrical contact on the extruder machine, utilized lock out tag out to protect the servicing employee from hazards such as but not limited to arc flash and electrical shock. Employees are exposed to both pneumatic and electrical energy sources.
