Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) Worksite - On or about July 5, 2018, an employee was being by a forklift to install metal sheets on curtain rail without utilizing an appropriately designed personnel lifting platform. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable means to abate these hazards is to follow ITSDF B56.1-2005 entitled, "Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks," Section 4.17 Elevating Personnel, which states, "Only operator-up high lift trucks have been designed to lift personnel. If a work platform is used on trucks designed and intended for handling materials, the requirements of paragraphs 4.17.2 and 4.17.3 shall be met for the protection of personnel."
