29 CFR 1910.106(e)(6)(i): Adequate precautions were not taken to prevent the ignition of flammable vapors from sources such as open flames; lightning; smoking; cutting and welding; hot surfaces; frictional heat; static, electrical, and mechanical sparks; spontaneous ignition, including heat-producing chemical reactions; and radiant heat: A. On or about March 22, 2018, Technician Shop: Precautions were not taken to prevent the ignition of vapors from flammable liquids used in the area of the EnviroWaste parts cleaner equipment. The Kelsol solvent in the parts cleaner contained Naphtha. Other flammables used in the area included spray paints and penetrating catalyst and Task Force cleaner, which contained hexane and methanol. Employees were allowed to use open flames in the area. No warning signs were posted in the area.
